Drones and Construction

In February 2023 we were contracted with Aegis Construction to document and scan the construction progress at Firestone Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. They built a brand new beautiful  facility on the north side of Frederick, Colorado.

Using our construction drones, we worked with Aegis construction on a schedule that included scans every two weeks, and as needed/on-demand to do reality capture of the exterior and interior of the building project.

Each time on site, we flew the drone to create an orthomosaic map, and we did an interior scan with a 360 camera creating walkthroughs and 360 panorama views of the construction progress.

Our construction drones use RTK and PPK for GPS corrections so the map is highly accurate to its actual coordinates in the world. They are connected through Trimble Applanix.

Everyone knows that drones can capture amazing videos and photos from the air, but our services go way beyond that in supporting construction projects. We are enabling them to verify and document the work that was done by the different contractors. From March 2020 through August of 2021 - the value of global construction disputes was calculated at $73 Billion dollars.

Our technology and process helps eliminate waste, saves time of not always having to be on site, and resolves disputes by archiving the reality on site at different points in time. This allowed the Aegis team to identify and mitigate any issues along the way because they had the real data from on site as they went along. Gone are the days of pulling out an iPhone, emailing it to yourself, uploading it to whatever system the company is using…

Because of the accuracy, we are able to overlay site plans, LandXML files, and construction documents to verify everything from concrete to utilities to landscape installs. Our 360 interior walkthrough lays on top of construction documents, so you can see exactly what MEP was installed where, when, at any point in the building.
